The whole idea behind software-defined networking, SD-WAN and network functions virtualization (NFV) was to bring more automation into telecommunications networks. Forward-thinking service providers such as AT&T and CenturyLink jumped on the network automation bandwagon early. Many other telcos have since followed suit. And now newcomers such as Rakuten have taken network automation to the next level. What have been some big lessons learned in terms of network automation and AI?
