Gavin Horn is a Senior Director in Wireless Research at Qualcomm leading the cellular upper layer design, evaluation and standardization including network architecture, security, slicing, cloud/virtualization, radio interface and protocols. Since 2014, he has been leading the 5G upper layer research as part of the successful completion in Dec 2017 non-standalone and June 2018 standalone standardization preparing for NR commercial deployments in 2019. Gavin received his PhD from Caltech in 1999, and he holds more than 300 granted patents.
